There is only one way of making sure if you want a job or work to be done with complete satisfaction, and that is to do it yourself. A wise mother lark knew this and always planned her moves accordingly.
The mother lark lived with her young ones in the middle of a cornfield. She had taught the little birds to listen carefully to anything the farmer might say, while she was out during the day looking for food for the family.
For some time there was nothing for the little larks to report. But one evening, when the mother lark came home, the little ones said, “The farmer was here with his son, and we heard him ask the boy to arrange for the neighbors to come tomorrow and help with the reaping.”
“Then we have nothing to worry about,” said the mother lark confidently.
The next evening, the small birds said that the farmer had been there again with his son, and hoped the son would persuade his cousins to help with the reaping of the corn.
“There is still nothing to worry about,” said the mother.
But on the third evening, when she heard that the farmer intended to start reaping himself, she said,” It’s time we move elsewhere,” and they did.
The next day the farmer himself started reaping his corn without the assistance from his neighbours or his relatives.
Moral of the Story: You cannot depend on others to do your work for you, always do it yourself.
