Two men were travellıng along on a road together. Suddenly one of them pounced forward and picked up the shiny new axe which was lying on the ground before them.
“What a lucky find for me!” he said. “Look at my axe.”
“Isn’t it our axe ?” asked his companion. “Since we are travelling together, we both saw the axe lying on the road.”
“Rubbish !” said the first man. “I have picked it up. It’s my axe”.
“Have it your own way,” said the other man.
They went along the road again. But soon the owners of the axe, who had dropped it on the road by mistake, came back and claimed the axe.
“We will take you to Court if you do not give it up quietly,” they threatened.
“We are undone!” cried the man who had the possession of the axe.
“Not we. You are undone,” said his companion. “If I was not to share the axe while you had it, why should I have any part in its loss ?”
